Default Hilight Parent Folder when Child folder is allocated a new email

I could easily have missed something right in front of my face, but I presumed that Outlook would naturally highlight a parent folder if a sub, or child, folder was allocated a new incoming email by rules. Too many times have I missed noticing the new email until I expanded the parent folder only then to notice that one of its sub-folders had a new email in it. Is there an easy way to alter this behavior so any parent folder that is above a child folder with an unread email will be highlighted?

I understand that since the parent folder can also be allocated emails itself MS probably chose not to have the confusion in notification, but I rather be confused and hunt down the reason than be blissfully ignorant.

Thank-you!
