Hi, kiyap. I just saw your posts and would like to draw your attention to something which might otherwise lead to surprises for you and others.

Checking the "Automatically update" box for a style tells Word to update all instances of the style whenever you make a local change to it.

For example, let's say you have body text style you have created and are using. Reviewing your work, you decide that a one-line paragraph ought to be bold, or red. If you select the entire paragraph, including the hidden pilcrow symbol (¶) at the end, which "contains" all the paragraph-level formatting parameters, ALL paragraphs in your document of that style will instantly adopt the new formatting. There's a reason that you will not see the update box in the dialogue for Normal, or for character styles! But most paragraph styles include it.
Note that the updating can happen in a long document with a style that occurs, say, on pages 4, 17, 25, and 47 -- you might not notice the change until later and then spend a lot of time repeatedly trying to fix each instance. I speak from experience.

After you have made the needed update, you may wish to uncheck it until further necessity arises.
