You probably brought the text in as HTML. Select it, cut it, and use Edit/PasteSpecial/Unformatted text to repaste it.

If this fails, try cutting or copying it to a text editor (Notepad or similar) to strip the formatting. Then copy it from text back to replace your stubborn text.
