There does seem to be some form of corruption in the document. Saving it in RTF format or Word's DOC seems to fix that, but has other adverse effects on the content. You might be able to expedite the recovery process by copying as much as does copy correctly from your existing document to a new document, then copying the such of the remainder as is recovered when saved as an RTF/DOC file and pasting that into the new document as well. You'll still have some work to do, but this should save a lot of time.

Alternatively, though I wouldn't recommend it, you could persist with your current document, then save it as a PDF before printing. Saving as a PDF preserves all the content and allows the output to be printed correctly from the PDF.
