This is very unusual behavior. You mentioned a second computer running Outlook, configured to the same profile.
- What version is that outlook client?
- (On the computer with the issue) have you added the inbox to favorites to see if this works around the unusual error?
- Do you have Office 2003 or outlook 2003 to perform a full uninstall /install of the program?
- Does your excahnge hosted provider offer an Outlook upgrade?
_ have you attempted to use the Outlook switches " /resetfolders or /resetfoldernames?

With outlook 2003 nearing extinction, if the above methods do not resolve this issue, it might be time to upgrade to 2007 or 2010 versions.
