If you simply copy & paste the relevant field code from the tutorial to your own template(s) (by template I mean a .dot, .dotx or .dotm file, not a document you merely call a template), you shouldn't get any errors - those will only arise if you try to recreate the field code and get it wrong. Having copied & pasted the field code, all you should need to do is change the Delay value to 28 and change 'DATE' to 'CREATEDATE' wherever 'DATE' appears. The reason for using templates is that the date inserted via CREATEDATE is essentially static, but always refers to the date the document was created or saved via Save As, whereas the date inserted via DATE is liable to change whenever you open the document.
