I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

If you want your Cross-References to have a particular format, you should employ the Charformat switch. See: https://support.office.com/en-ie/art...6-4efc027f2cf3

Note: you shouldn't use Charformat and Mergeformat switches in the same field.
