Docx files are not templates; they are documents. templates have the dot, dotx or dotm extension, depending on the template type. Regardless, you can choose whatever location you like to save a template. As indicated in the Word 2007 & Later Key Data File Locations 'Sticky' thread at the top of this forum, user templates should normally be saved in:
C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Temp lates\
