On-screen indicator for overtype mode?
I just upgraded to Office 2010 from Office 2000, and find it a great improvement. One thing has me stumped, though.
In Word 2000 there a little bar across the bottom of the screen that showed, among other things, four little boxes saying REC, TRK, EXT, and OVR. When I was in overtype mode OVR was bolded, and when I wasn't the OVR was grayed out. Therefore, I could always see whether or not I was in overtype mode. I can't find any corresponding indicator in Word 2010 showing whether I'm in overtype mode. To find out, I just have to try typing and see if it overtypes or not. I would be grately deepful if you can tell me (a) whether an overtype indicator exists in Word 2010, and (b) if so, how to make it display on screen. |

Hi,
If you right-click on Word's status bar, a dialogue box will pop up giving you options for what should be displayed there, including 'Overtype'.

Thank you so much for your answer. This has been driving me crazy and I figured there must be a way so finally took the time to search for it.
