How to remove unwanted lines - I cannot even find how/where they are inserted!
Okay, I downloaded an adobe form from a website, converted it to a Word document and now want to edit it. The form has spaces for name, address, etc. SOMEHOW, SOMEWHERE there must be a command putting lines in certain places from the old form/formatting! I CANNOT, no matter what I do, get rid of these lines! I have even copied & pasted into a new document - they are still there. I have cleared formatting in the entire document - they are still there. I have looked at borders & shading - nothing. I have converted tables to text - they are still there. UGH! Does anyone know HOW I can remove these? I have attached the document so you can see what I mean. Thank you for any help!

Mystery lines
I can imagine your frustration. These were objects, not borders, and they were probably formatted as "behind text," which is a typical phenomenon with PDF-to-Word conversion. I have removed them. IN Word 2007, there is a Select Objects tool. It has been a while since I used 2003, and I don't recall the equivalent in that version. Perhaps it was Ctrl_click or something.
In any case, I am attaching your cleaned document. Best, Ulo |

Neeraj, the box you see is the border of a picture. In other words, your text is only a picture of editable text; it is not itself editable. This suggests that it was also a scanned image in the PDF from which you converted.

You need to put it into a .jpg format or a .pdf format and run an optical character recognition program on it. There is no such program built into Office 2003. One almost certainly came with your scanner (if you have a scanner).

Neeraj, the only way to edit the text is to get it into an editable form. You will need to either use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, either "scanning" the electronic document or printing it and then scanning the hard copy with an OCR scanner, or retype all the text. There is no way to edit the text in a picture as it is.
