Default Existing Doc always opens in Calibri

Hi,

My documents are all created with Time New Roman font, however when I open them, it is showing up in Calibri font. Is there a way that the word opens the doc in the same font that I had created them. I am using using MS word 2007, Windows Vista.

Thanks,
Stan

I've never seen that before. Not sure what it is, but I have a similar thing in some other software. In my case, a new software package updated some of my fonts and changed the file names or locations slightly in such a way that older documents thought the specified font was missing. Word will automatically substitute in these cases. If something happened that could have renamed your font, reinstalling the old font file may help.

Another theory is that the font is not really specified as Times New Roman in this document. If the font was specified as "Body" then the font will automatically convert to whatever is set as the body font (like with website design). If you change the font back to Times New Roman and then save the file, will it open as Times New Roman the next time?

You have to change the "default" font which isn't all that hard. Open a document, go the the home tab and select the little box with the down arrow under the "font" section (it is in the bottom right of the section). Select the little box/arrow and this will open the font selection box, change to times new roman with whatever size that you want and select the "set as default" button on the bottom left. You will get a selection box that asks if you want to apply your new font to this document or to all new documents. Select all new documents. When you open a new document, you will have the font that you want.

Hope this helped.
