I began using MS Word 2007 recently. I am writing a book. I immediately ran into a couple of problems I have no idea how to resolve.

1. I had three files in Recent Documents, when you right click on that globe at the top left corner. Then I renamed one of them. Now every time I click on it I get an error message that the file is not found. That is fine, I open the same file under a different name and use it but seeing the old name irritates me. How can I remove it?

If you are familiar with Visual Studio 2010, over there, if you renamed or deleted a file the VS automatically figures out that the file is no longer there, once you clicked on it once. It is removed from the list. Is there a way to do the same here in MS Word?



2. While writing my pages I decided to separate a couple of paragraphs. This is what I did: I drew a long line of equal signs across the page by typing "=". After I typed some more text I drew a second line. Then I look at what happened.

To my surprise there were no separate equal signs anymore. I saw two solid double lines which were uneraisable! I cannot delete them no matter what I try. Their length is exactly the width of the page.

I can move them to the last page and that's it but they are a real nuisance. Besides they appear on printed pages. I don't need them anymore. How can I remove them? What are they? What is their name? They are not the lines I typed in as a matter of fact. They are something different.
