Default Two-line heading in TOC is making two lines of dot leaders

Hi,

I have some really long Level 3 headings in Word. They wrap around to the next line after a colon, and they're putting a dot leader tab on each line and duplicating the page number. I'm attaching a screen shot so you'll see what I mean. Any help is appreciated!

I don't know that Paul's suggested reading is what you are really looking for.

I assume your document is set up so that both the recommendation number and text are in different paragraphs but use the same style and this is what is causing the double entries in the TOC.

It is possible to remove the page numbers (and tab leaders) for a TOC level but you will need to use different styles for the two source styles.

I think you will need to post a sample doc showing how you want the content and TOC to appear - you haven't made that clear enough at the moment.

If the Recommendation and the text that's presently shown as the next TOC entry are supposed to be one and the same TOC entry, they'd have to form a single paragraph in the document body. It is clear that presently they're separate paragraphs in the document body.

That said, the link I posted is relevant for all the TOC entries following a Recommendation #.

Paul has answered your question. You get two lines in the TOC (actually two entries) because you have two paragraphs in your body rather than having one long paragraph.
