Chapter doesn't appear to number figures

Hi.

I want to number my figures with chapter behind, like "Figure 2.1 or 1.4" but when i click to number with chapter, the chapter i want to reference doesn't appear in the options . So i wrote a phd until now and i need to solve this issue to send to the jury...

For this to work, your headings must make use of the built-in in heading styles, the headings must be numbered and you must make use of the caption feature (References tab > Insert Caption).

Can I associate the header I create to a built-in header? Because I already have a all document prepared to send and changing now the headers will put me in trouble...

As I wrote, if you want to include heading numbering with captions, you must use the built-in headings.
