Newbie question: Can't make more than 1 page
This is probably something obvious, but I'm new and can't find the answer in the docs nor from searching the net/forums.
If I create a new document via "File -> New", everything works fine until I type enough content to fill up the first page. The cursor ought to appear at the top of page 2. But instead, the cursor disappears and the bottom left of the window still displays "page 1 of 1". I can keep typing, but none of that typing shows. Clicking "page 1 of 1" shows only 1 page available. The view is set to "Print Layout". If I switch to "read mode", then it shows all pages properly including the extra typing done while the cursor was not visible. But of course now the pages are arranged horizontally. I would rather write with the document arranged vertically. If instead I work on a document that I imported from Open Office, I am able to create new pages properly while in "print layout" mode. Thank you for any help. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 03-14-2019 at 11:03 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Can you add a sample document?

My guess is that you are typing content into a table cell whose height is fixed. The text would then disappear into the bottom cell margin, but it would be visible in Read Mode.

If Stefan's guess is correct, try renaming your normal template with Word closed.

Along with Stefan's guess that you are typing into a table cell, you might also be typing into a text box (or frame) which also can't span across pages. These are objects which are rarely used in the body of documents but often appear on covers of templates that Microsoft makes available.
