Exclamation Word 2019 hangs on saving and exiting

A few days ago I posted on problems saving to a flash drive from MS Word 2019. Now the problem has expanded. Saving to the same hard drive from which the file, any file, came, now seems to give me "Not responding." I've not seen a version of Word do this. It did not do this initially. So, I am wondering what changed. I don't recall doing any explicit updates except that Windows wanted to update itself. I have to wonder if that introduced a bug into Word.

Any suggestions? This isa pretty basic function to break. Thanks.

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

I am on Windows 10. There is no control panel and my impression is that MS has all he code. Office 2019 was installed but (wrongly in my view) MS did not provide the code. So I have no idea how I could repair it. Thanks.

Every Windows installation includes the Windows Control Panel. Unless you're working in a corporate environment who's IT department has removed your access to the Control Panel, you will have access to it. As for whether Office 2019 was installed wrongly I can't say, but what I can say is that all the code for it will reside on your computer.

Steps for repairing Office are explained in the article at https://support.office.com/en-gb/art...e-a6b40c5bb88b. As Paul said, Control Panel is still available on Windows 10, even though Microsoft has removed some items from it (such as Windows Update, which is now only in the Settings app).
