Linking Sub-Heading Numbering to Heading Numbering
I am building a document that uses Headings and Sub-Headings. I have formatted each in the Styles tab and am happy with them. However, i am having issues linking the numbering. Currently i have
1.0 Heading 1 1.1 Sub-Heading 1 1.2 Sub-Heading 2 2.0 Heading 2 1.3 Sub-Heading 3 1.4 Sub-Heading 4 When i actually want: 1.0 Heading 1 1.1 Sub-Heading 1 1.2 Sub-Heading 2 2.0 Heading 2 2.1 Sub-Heading 3 2.2 Sub-Heading 4 Apologies if this has been answered before. The link you have been given is the only reliable way to do this. Yes, it has been asked and answered many times because it is a recurrent problem. Word's automatic numbering from the ribbon buttons only works for the most rudimentary situations.
