Can't find and replace SimSun font
I edit scientific papers written by Chinese scientists in English. They're usually all in Times New Roman throughout, but often opening and closing parentheses are in the SimSun font. (The parens are fine in running text, but are SimSun in the equation numbering: not the equations themselves, but the numbers following them, like "(13)". The number is Times New Roman, but not the parens.) I'd like to search/replace all those parens with Times New Roman. So in Find and Replace I leave Find What empty, but in the Format > Font list I select SimSun. Then, "Font: (Default) SimSun" appears under the Find What box. I also leave Replace With empty, but specify Times New Roman font. But Word doesn't find any SimSun in the document. I've also tried the only other SimSun font in the list, SimSun-ExtB, but the same thing happens. If there are only a few instances, I can simply select the paren and type a new one, and it appears in Times New Roman. But for 50 or more equations it gets a tad tedious. I've also tried selecting the entire document and specifying Times New Roman, but the SimSun fonts are not affected. How can I search/replace SimSun fonts? |
