Can't add symbol to multilevel list
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but can't find it if it has.
I created the Style template attached, but need to design the "multilevel list" to match the formatting and numbering/sequence of the headers. I need each Header and dependent to start with the Legal symbol, but can't see how to do this? Also can't see why the Table of Contents contains the "Header Text" as well as the indented headers? All solutions, suggestions and recommendation welcome. GreySquirrel |

Your TOC is built with outline levels so any text that is formatted with any outline level other than 'Body text' is going to appear in the TOC.
Looking at your styles, Tier2Text has an outline level of 2 set in the Paragraph Formatting dialog. Modify that style's paragraph formatting outline level by changing this to 'Body Text' to resolve your issue.

Can't add symbol to multilevel list
Guessed,
Many thanks for the prompt advise. Structure changed and TOC now looks good. Key challenge now is the design of that the "multilevel list" to match the formatting and numbering/sequence of the headers, including the legal symbol. First time I've ever tried this in Word, so apologies again if the request for help seems basic. GreySquirrel |

Be careful with your terminology. Headers and Headings are different things in Word.
Headings are what you are talking about. Headers are the repeating information at the top of each page. I'm not sure what your question actually is. Are you asking about the TOC or the styles in the body of the document now?

Guessed,
Yes, apologies for that. I am talking about the Headings and Text levels. I created the layout shown in page 2 of the attachment, which I believed was adequate, because you could either type everything in, then "set" the Headings and Text to whichever Style was appropriate, and that would move and format the text appropriately, or select the Style first and then start typing. But I was then told I ALSO needed to create a matching "multilevel list", including the Law Symbol at the start. Being baffled at that point, I posted the thread. Hope this clarifies? GreySquirrel |
