Default Deleting field boxes or removing shading in a password-protected document

Hi everyone.

So there is this contract that has gray field boxes. I'm supposed to fill in the boxes in Word, print it, sign it by hand, scan it and then email it.

I have filled in the forms, no problem there, but here's the thing. When I preview the document for printing, the gray field boxes show up too. I can't print it like that. I need the gray field boxes to disappear but I can't get them to disappear since the document has restricted editing and it's asking for a password to enable editing. The toolbar and everything is grayed out. I cannot change/edit anything other than the inside of the field boxes. Selecting the field boxes and trying to delete them doesn't work either.

Can I get rid of these field boxes, gray shading stuff or whatever they are without the password? I can't ask the company for the password. Even if I do, I highly doubt they'll give it to me since this is a binding contract. They can't risk someone changing something in the articles.

I have attached a screenshot to help you get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance.

From your description it appears that these are legacy form fields. You can turn off the shading from the Developer Tab > Controls Group > Click the 'briefcase' icon and it's the second icon from the right on the top row.

And even if you don't turn off the shading, it doesn't show up on printouts.
