Since I started using Office 2016 my document titles change from this:

B, Sutton Implant Clinic, Birmingham, Onsite, Dental Implants, LF 3

to this:



B^LJ Sutton Implant Clinic^LJ Birmingham^LJ Onsite^LJ Dental Implants^LJ LF 3

when saved. Any idea why and/ or how i can stop it?

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

I'm not sure what I can show you except the screen shot attached. You can see what the title of the document is at the top of the document. This is what I put in when I save the document. At the very top of the screen you can see what it has actually saved as - it's exchanged each comma for an upward arrow and a 'J'.

I do a lot of this writing and have never had this problem before I started using this version of word. This happens with every document I save with this format - sometimes it will throw an 'L' or two in as well.

There's no screenshot attached to your post. In any event, it's preferable for you to attach a document demonstrating the problem.

I don't see any evidence of a title in your attached document. What I do see is a first paragraph containing:
B, Sutton Implant Clinic, Birmingham, Onsite, Dental Implants, LF 5
and the filename:
B^J Sutton Implant Clinic^J Birmingham^J Onsite^J Dental Implants^J LF 5.docx
In the filename, it's apparent the ^J expressions have replaced the commas in the first paragraph. That is most likely an operating system issue rather than a Word/Office issue, since it is the operating system that is responsible for file naming, regardless of what application you do that from. That said, you might try repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair). If that doesn't resolve the issue, try running the System File Checker, for which see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...m-file-checker

fwiw, I've seen ^J mentioned as a search/replace wildcard that would be used to convert something like a four-line address into a single line with commas … might there be any overlap here?

I've seen something similar. A workaround, not a fix, not satisfactory, is to rename the file outside of Word.
