Repeating section, make new cells empty
Hi I am creating a meeting protocoll. My plan was to use a table inside a repeating content control with two rows, Topic and Decision. Depending on the the number of topics the user could click the plus in the repeating content control and add more topics but the problem comes when the user have already filled the first table and then click the plus sign. The new section is a copy with the text from the previous one. Is there any way to solve this, so the new sections fields are empty? I can use text content controls instead but I think it gets messy when all content controls have the background colour grey and the "click or tap here to...." Is there a way of changing this to white and to remove the caption? Anders Sweden |

Content controls don't have a background grey colour - other than when selected and showing placeholder text. On Word versions after 2010 they don't need a border; and the placeholder text is optional and/or customisable in all versions.
You might find https://www.gmayor.com/insert_content_control_addin.htm useful as a simple way of inserting controls (customised as you want) into a repeating content control. (You will have to insert the repeating control itself normally). If you add a new section in the repeating control, that section's content controls are not filled in from the previous section - at least not here in Word 2016. The table is repeated c/w its controls unfilled.

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I thought my answer might be useful to other users looking for help on this.
The way I found to achieve what you want is: in the Topic and the Decision cell, create a content-controlled Rich Text or Plain Text box. Select these boxes, and in their properties, tick the box "The content control cannot be deleted". Now select the whole row of the table you want to repeat and click on Repeat Selection Content Control. Now you can fill in the content control text boxes within the table, but when you create a new row, it will appear with new content control boxes that are empty. At least that's how it works in my Word 365. |
