How to get address from excel based on variable typed into word.
I did a search of the forum but am not really what to call this.
What I am trying to do is type a number into word and have it bring in address from excel. Ie: I type in 18003 and it looks to a excel sheet for that number and returns XYZ Corp 1212 Boogie Boogie Ave Any Town, NY 15666 and places it into the word table cell. I'm not sure this is possible, but it seems like it should be. This wouldn't be a mail merge type thing as I would like to use it elsewhere in the document for different information too. Any ideas on how to do this or has anyone heard of this and can point me in the direction of a tutorial? Thank you! |

The best way is nevertheless, Mail Merge.
It is for far more than mailings. You would have one column with your key numbers. The rest of the row for each number would contain the data you want. That is the quickest and simplest way to reference data in an Excel spreadsheet while in Word. |

Thank you Charles. I will give it a try and see how well I do.
