It seems this is an ongoing problem with Word since I've seen this question in other forums. I was hoping by Office 2016 it would be corrected, but I'm trying to print pages 2-5 of a document and when I hit Print nothing happens.



At one point I could simply type in 2-5 in the custom print field and those pages would print. (Or was that when I was using WordPerfect 4.2 for DOS back in 1991? Somehow it worked back then.)

Is there some secret to printing a range of pages?

That is how it is done in Word, unless you have added sections to your document or changed the page numbering or both.

Hmmm. It's a merge so I guess it has sections. I appreciate the tip.

Yes, a letter mail merge product will have at least one section per record.

You then need to identify the section as well as the pages unless you are printing all.

To print a range of pages across sections, use the following syntax in the Pages box: PageNumberSectionNumber-PageNumberSectionNumber
For example, you would type p1s1-p2s2 to print from page 1 of section 1 through page 2 of section 2.

Despite the limitations noted on the page, it applies to all recent versions of word.
