Convert old format to MS Word 2007
I bought a new PC and brought over some docs from my old PC. The old machine had Windows 10 and MS Word 2007 on it. The files show they are MS Word 97-03 docs and every time I try to open one it goes thru a conversion process. Is there a way I can automate that process?

Word 97-2003 documents should not need to go through any conversion process - Word 2007 & later can open them without that.

When I double click on a file a box opens that says it is Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 and I see a conversion progress line and then the file opens.

If Office wasn't already open, what you may be seeing is the status updates Word displays while loading addins, filters, etc., not a file conversion as such. No file conversion is needed for Word 97-2003 documents.
