Question How can I stop Word from auto loading

I am using Word which is part of Office 2010.

When I load Windows 10 Word auto runs.

How can I stop Word from auto loading?

Please correct your profile - it says you're using Windows 8, and anyone relying on that would be unable to provide the correct advice in this case.

Many users have reported the Word auto-start problem, which appears to have been caused by a recent update. A more recent update (which appears not to have been installed on your system yet) corrects the problem.

I think that it is Microsoft way of hinting folk to purchase the latest version.

Hardly - it's not an Office issue, as such, and affects Office 2016, too.

Neither do I with Office 2010 on Win 10. Make of that what you will, since you say your platform is the same, but the problem has nothing to do with the Office version or any supposed upgrade ploy by MS.

I fail to see what anything discussed in this thread has to do with an upgrade decision. As indicated in post #2, if your system is having the problem of Word auto-loading on startup, that's because your system isn't fully updated. The cure is to update your system.

In which case Word will no longer be auto-loading.
