Default Unreadable Content: Paragraph Properties and OLE Links

I want to say thanks in advance because I've found many solutions on these forums over many years and I've never had to create an account until now.

I have a document that links to a separate excel worksheet. The links include text, tables and tables embedded as pictures. There are also a number of field codes in the document for pulling in photographs from adjacent folders. Recently, after adding a bunch of new fields, something happened with the document and now, when opened, it gives the error warning for unreadable content but is able to recover all of the content, at least as near as I can tell. The repaired content includes about 110 OLE Fields and 25 Paragraph Properties. Any thoughts on what might have caused this? Any further thoughts on how it might be fixed?

While the current situation isn't ideal, it's workable. I'd love to be able to fix what went wrong rather than rebuild the whole document from a clean start.

The first thing I'd be inclined to try is a corrupt document 'repair'. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.

Other than that, you might go to File|Info>Edit Links to Files and validate each link individually, first by checking their source file details and correcting any faulty ones or, if that doesn't resolve the problem, via the 'Update Now' & 'Open Source' buttons.
