Default Repeating Data in a Document

I used the paste link feature as suggested in https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...rst-entry.html, which does work, however, I'd like to be able to make changes to the fields that I pasted that would also change all the fields.

For example, if I paste 5 fields and realize later in my document that I made a misspelling or need to change for whatever reason, I can change that field anywhere in the document and it will update all the other fields. The paste special will not allow that.

I know there is a way to do this because I have a document where it works, but I cannot replicate for whatever reason.

Thanks macropod. I tried everything on that site with, unfortunately, no luck (well everything but the macros). The bookmarks and cross referencing works, but only if you refresh manually. Trying to find a better solution.

Most likely that document was created using form fields, whose use is described in the link I provided.

Mapped content controls with cross references will update instantly. Whatever you type in one will be repeated instantly in the other(s), without the use of macros in the document. For ease of insertion see http://www.gmayor.com/BookmarkandVariableEditor.htm (the Content Control version).
