Autocorrect Words inserting automatic return
I am trying to build an Autocorrect library of frequently used words, particularly proper names; for some reason, I am getting automatic 'carriage return' (reverse paragraph symbol) insertions when the defined word is inserted, which is making for a lot of stupid back-spacing.
I have tried: Plain Text Formatted Text Copying & pasting the precise word and spacing from a document Entering the word both with and without desired spacing directly into Autocorrect I would be happy simply to have the words as desired, with NO following spacing, but what I am getting is - the word, IMMEDIATELY followed by a 'carriage' return to the following line; sometimes with TWO returns. Having the ability to enter the word WITH desired spacing (i.e. two blank spaces following a colon) would be ideal! This is in Word 2013. Anyone seen this/able to fix it? Thanks! |

What comes to mind is tht you are inadvertently copying the paragraph symbol immediately following the word or phrase. Have you tried with hidden characters displayed (¶ on the home tab of the Ribbon)? Do you still get teh same result if you don;t include that in your selection?

Sadly, yes, I have definitely paid close attention to the 'hidden characters' and have very, VERY deliberately not included the paragraph symbol. No joy. It just seems to have a mind ENTIRELY of its own, and as I said - sometimes even inserts TWO paragraph breaks!

You would be welcome to post your .acl file here. I would be willing to look at it.
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. You would need to put it in a compressed folder (zip file). Otherwise, the backup utilities for AutoCorrect will let you make a file where you can examine them. The Macro Zone AutoCorrect Utility Manager Those are the tools I would use to look at it. If you do post the .acl file, please let us know which entries are giving you this response. Automated Boilerplate Using Microsoft Word Note that AutoCorrect will require a space, punctuation, or the Enter key to trigger the response. It is not possible to only have the word/phrase without the character that triggers the AutoCorrect. |
