Default How to stop automatic switching of keyboard language

Hi. I am using Korean and English on my keyboard. When I type in Korean, I type in a lot of abbreviations, and Word often types English words instead of the Korean words I typed in. I am not talking about automatic detection of the input language or spell check language. I am talking about a mechanical typing discrepancy--I type Korean words and get English words in Word. Can someone tell me how to stop this? I am using Word 2007.

What is your proofing language? If English is the proofing language, you may be getting AutoCorrect, which is proofing-language-specific.

I don't know how to check the proofing language, but at the bottom of the document it says "English (United Kingdom)". Actually I am using AutoCorrect to save typing. I type in some Korean abbreviation and it corrects to the word I want. But the problem is sometimes instead of producing the word I want as AutoCorrect should, it changes to some English string. The Word must think it should be an English word, but this is what I am trying to stop.

Reviewing > Language > Proofing Language

This setting can be different for each word (or, indeed, character) in a document.

Check it with something selected.

You can set the language as a part of a style (character or paragraph).

From Review on the menu bar I went to "Proofing" and then clicked "Set language". I see Korean is selected. In the dialogue box I see "Detect language automatically" is checked. I have now unchecked it. Hope this will work. Thanks.

Most people seem to have the best results with that box unchecked. I hope it helps. I would appreciate it if you could let us know in a few weeks if it does.
