Angry Watermarks

I am trying to enter a watermark in a document. I have done this plenty of times, but for some reason I'm having trouble now. The watermark appears behind the text as opposed to in front or on top of the text. What am I doing wrong?

Watermarks typically get added to the header, whose content sits behind the body text.

Thanks macropod. I've used watermarks before and never had this problem. I just want to mark my document as a "draft". When I insert the watermark, you can only see little bits and pieces of the word. It's like its being covered up.

I think it has something to do with the document itself. I tried adding a watermark to an old document and it worked. The current document I am trying to add the watermark to is a scanned doc that was originated by someone else probably using a different word format/program. Is there a way to fix this without retyping the entire document?

Chances are that there is something in your document body obscuring the Watermark. That could be fill in a table or textbox. It could be an image.

That it was scanned should not, in itself, make any difference, but scanned (converted) documents are often filled with formatting anomalies.

Thanks Charles, it was in the formatting of the scanned document. I copied the text and pasted as "text only" and that was able to take the watermark normally. Big job as I had 15 separate documents that I had to copy, paste and reformat, but I got it done. Thanks for your assistance.
