How to delete a temporary ~$ Word file?
SynckBack, a well known software for backups, reads two files in a directory named Fonts in my Documents folder. These are:
2 The TrueType Font File.docx ~$The TrueType Font File.docx When I use Windows Explorer (in Windows 10) I can see the main file 2 The TrueType Font File.docx, but I can't see the temporary file, even after I check the option "Hidden items" in View. I want to delete this auxiliary file from my hard drive. How do I do this? |

~$The TrueType Font File.docx is a Word lock file created when a Word document The TrueType Font File.docx is opened, and removed when the document is closed - provided Word has not crashed.
You should be able to view it if present with hidden files displayed. If you can't see it, how do you know it is there? I am not familiar with the particular backup software, but such software does not normally copy files that are in use. See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm

"If you can't see it, how do you know it is there?"
The software lists all the files in the Documents folder, one of them is the alluded temporary file. |

I have just found it. Besides checking "Hidden item" in the View menu, one has to allow Windows Explorer to show operating system files with the following steps: Control Panel > Appearances and Personalization > File Explorer Options > View > Uncheck box named "Hide protected operating system files".
