Question Multiple editing restrictions - allow comments with other restrictions

Hi all,
I have a legal agreement template which I need third parties to fill in it certain sections so I usually protect the document and only allow "Editing forms".

However sometimes the third party needs to give some comments on the document which they have to do on a separate email/document because they can't add comments to my protected document.

When I check the document protection options, I find that I can only allow either "editing forms" or "adding comments" but not both.

Is there any way I could have both options available in a protected documents?

Thanks.

You've discovered that "filling in forms" protection is extremely limiting.

Are you using Content Controls or Legacy Form Fields?

Are you overlooking the obvious? Add a comments field to your document.

Well, consider me Word illiterate and elaborate please because I don't get it.

I have a protected Word document which I need others to edit certain sections in it as well as add comments to any section in it; what shall I exactly do?

Change your protection method to only allow comments.
Then, before you protect the document, set your Content Controls and other selected areas as exceptions.
Your users will be able to add comments anywhere and edit the areas you marked as exceptions.

Thank you very much! I believe I used this long back but forgot due to my little use to Word.

Thanks again!
