Referencing text blocks from one document in several
Hello, I am currently writing text descriptions in six different Word files. Sometimes I use the same text block in all documents. Usually, I write it in one file and then copy paste it in the others. If I change something in the text block, I need to copy paste this part in all documents. Is there a way to reference a text block from one file in other documents? Also, all changes made to the referenced block should affect the other documents which reference it as well. What is the easiest way to do this, if possible? |

You can create an AutoText entry (in a template) that stores the content and then bring it into several documents by inserting AUTOTEXT fields. Everyone who opens these documents need access to the template which stores the AutoText entry.
As an alternative, you can use INCLUDETEXT fields in a similar way. This field requires that a full path is specified to the source file. Both types of field must be updated (for example by selecting all content in each of the target files and pressing F9).
