Default How to Paste Into Normal Format

Greetings, I cannot seem to be able to paste text copied from another program into Word, and have it appear as normal formatting. I have selected "keep text" in the "Advanced" options.

But it continues to paste in the original source formatting.

To be clear, I copy text from another program and paste it into Word. It then shows up in Word with the color, font size and all formatting of the original program. I want it to drop the source formatting and paste it into the normal format.

I can, of course, highlight the pasted text and click on "normal" and it will change it to the correct normal formatting, but isn't there a way to not have to highlight and click on normal?

Thank you.

Click on the paste options, pick the one on the far right for text only.

As Charles suggested, see which result you get if you choose the Keep Text Only paste option available via the Paste Options button.

If you have turned off the display of that button, it may actually be part of the problem. It has been reported, in some versions of Word, that you need the Paste Options button activated for Word to honor the default paste setting options in the Word Options dialog box.
