big spaces appearing automatically in certain parts of the text - how to remove them
Hi,
I have a this problem that appears in some parts of Word documents, when writing or editing. The texts starts to "enlarge"; the size of the text is unchanged but there are large spaces between the words, and also increased spaces between letters, and it becomes awful. I have already searched for this problem on Google - I see it's something well known - but I haven't found any solution to my case. No way to make the text become "normal" again. I use Word 2013. I attach an example page where you can see the normal text and then the corrupted text with enlarged spaces. Hope there is someone able to "restore" my text, and tell me how can I do that Thanks |

So there are a few things going on that affect your text spacing.
First, some paragraphs are fully justified. This means the text on each line in a paragraph is spaced to ensure that the left and right sides of the paragraph align vertically. Word does this by varying the spacing between words. The spacing is particularly pronounced when a long word almost fits on a line and gets pushed onto the next line. Next, you have fiddled with the font spacing on some paragraphs or within some paragraphs. For instance in the the paragraph commencing "This stage is regulated" after the first 5 words, the spacing is expanded by 1.75pt. This causes spaces between letters and words to grow considerably. The same thing happens in the last paragraph of your sample doc. Finally, you have instances where double spaces appear between words. Change your options so you can see spaces on screen and these instances become easy to spot. To get rid of all the formatting issues at once, you can remove all local formatting by selecting it and pressing Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-Space. Then apply styles as appropriate.

Thank you very much for taking the time to inspect that document and give me this exhaustive explanation. Now I've got it. The ctrl+q and ctrl+space function is particularly useful!
Thanks again |
