Is there a way to set regular tab stops in a style?
In the Tabs... dialog of the Paragraph dialog of the Home tab, there is a field for Default tab stops that allows me to set stops at regular intervals. There is no such option in the Tabs dialog for a style. Is there no way to set tab stops at regular intervals in a style? |

Set tabs in a style
Hi Jennifer
You set tabs in the List Template for each level 1-9. Then you assign your attributes in the Style set you attach to the List Template. You should also assign your default tabs before you begin work on your template or document (default tab stops). If your default is 0.5 or 0.6 or 0.7 depending on List Style - 1.1, 1.1.1 etc and maximum width required for List Level eg 1.1.100. If it is a TOC style you can set the tabs in the TOC style: Modify >Format >Paragraph >Special > None First Line Indent or Hanging Indent. In the right indent - set 0.2 if you wish the TOC heading data to wrap before the page number on right hand side. You can modify the List Template tab sets for a table list to be 0.25, 0.5 etc. You can select the Table itself and set default tabs - eg 0.25. Hope that helps Jennifer. Regards Janine |

In a paragraph style, you can only set custom tab stops.

One of the blessings of styles is that you can setup only the tab stops you need. Word is not a typewriter so regular tabs are hardly necessary.

Indeed. Making use of the default tab stops often assumes that you press Tab repeatedly to "align" text, but custom tab stops are more specific than that.
