Word 2014: WPerfect 6.x full-justification "stops working"
I use the setting "Do full justification the way WordPerfect 6.x for Windows does." Some times, despite enabling this option, full justification is done in the standard way rather than the WordPerfect 6.x way. Turning the option off and on again doesn't fix the problem. Instead, to fix the problem, I have to create a new document. That's a very bad solution because I have to recreate the heading structure, which is a mess.
Any ideas what I can do besides creating a new document? |

I guess if I use the right paste setting, I don't have to recreate the heading structure, but it's still incredibly annoying.

The setting for "Do full justification the way WordPerfect 6.x for Windows does." has nothing to do with copy & paste. Provided anything you copy is justified, if you're pasting the content into the document with that setting applied, it will apply to the pasted content as well. The same goes for plain text pasted into a justified paragraph.
Of course, it's possible the document you're pasting into has acquired some of corruption. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.

All that I would like is for that setting to work. It doesn't work if I copy a new paragraph into the document as you suggest. |

Since it's a document-wide setting, there is no possibility for it to do otherwise, except perhaps if the document has some obscure form of corruption I've already told you how you might resolve.

Figured it out. The problem is that the "Word Perfect 6.x" setting does not work in compatibility mode. Removing it solves the problem.
My apologies for the deleted post; I should install a breathalyzer on the "save" button. |

I use it all the time in compatibility mode - it's my default setup for Word...

I'm guessing it depends on with what version of Word it's set to be compatible?

Well, I'm using Office 2010 (like you) and the default save format is .docx. In this case, therefore, 'compatibility mode' means Word 2007 compatibility. When using 'compatibility mode', docx files and files saved in the older .doc format both retain the 'Word Perfect 6.x' justification.

In a new document, justify the paragraph alignment, then type:
=lorem(10,9) and press Enter. That will produce a page or so of justified random text. Toggle the WordPerfect justification 'on' or 'off', depending on what the current setting is, then return to the document. Has the layout changed? With WordPerfect justification 'on', I'd expect the justified text to occupy slightly less space overall.

I got "upgraded" to 2016 before I could try your suggestion out. It seems to be working okay as long in this regard as long as I make sure the compatability settings are set appropriately.

In Word 2016, unless you use the Word 2010 etc. compatibility mode, WordPerfect justification isn't available.
