Default Word speel chek now giving definitiosn, how do i get rid of thiss

So as off this morning word (and outlook) 2016 are giving definitions of misspelled words when I right click on them to correct them.

I know what the definitions of words are I just cant spell them! Does anyone have any idea how to turn this feature off.

Indeed, as your thread title shows:

When Word encounters what it believes to be a spelling error, it generally produces a list of words with alternative spellings. the number of words in that list varies according to whatever the 'misspelling' is. You cannot change that behaviour. It's not clear from your post whether that's what you're referring to or to definitions available via the Thesaurus or Research Pane.

Paul, I've seen this, in the right-click menu for a misspelled word. It lists suggestions for a correct spelling along with synonyms. I cannot see them now and do not remember how I turned this off.

It hurts that I only have the permanent license version of Word 2016 on a computer I seldom use.

As the title of my thread suggests anything spelling related is a huge problem!

Charles - Thats exactly the problem I have and I cant find any option anywhere to turn this off.
