Default Using multilevel lists

I am trying to set up a document with the following numbered styles:

1. HEADING IN BOLD
1.1. Text

1.1.1 text, etc

I also need to have the following numbered paragraphs

1. Normal text
1.1. HEading in bold
1.1.1 heading in bold, etc

I have used multilevel lists and linked the first list above to the defined headings 1, 2, etc., and set up new styles for the second list and based them in the heading styles but when I try to restart numbering on "1 normal text" it reverts to "1. Heading in bold". I also need to make sure the lower level numbers follow on from previous number.

Any suggestions, or do these need to be set up using something more advanced like macros which I have no knowledge of.

Default Multilevel list

Hi

Numbering is sequential. If you want to run one list you have to provide number and text example.

You can only run 1-9 levels where you can use shift tab. If you wish to alternate between a bold heading and just text with a number in sequence you use the extra levels I have inserted – linked character and paragraph styles. These are linked character and paragraph styles. You can give them a shortcut key or just select them from the styles pane.
I would suggest you study the styles. You have not bothered to provide an example of the order of numbering sequence you require. This is a powerful style set. You can also add Runin TOC heading style (linked character and paragraph style).

Otherwise if your numbering request is a separate list create a new Multilevel list as stated.

I attach v2 template.

Regards
Jen

Many thanks, that looks like it might work but when I've using multilevels myself when I'm on, say, 1.1.1 if I use shift and tab it normally takes me back up the level to 1.1 and then to 1, that doesn't seem to work. I also need the numbering and heading for 1.1.1.1 and numbering for 1.1.1.1.1 - can you explain how to do this, or amend the template.

thansk for the link, I had managed to set up multilevel lists but was having a problem getting the different styles for headings and text paragraphs and making sure the numbering followed on and re-started correctly.

I agree with JimP; you will need two separate sets of styles.
