Default Making tab key jump to next field

I have developed a form (copy attached) that I want to be easy for users to fill in. Restricted mode works OK except that the TAB key inserts a tab stop instead of jumping to the next field.

Can this be fixed? I have just started using Office 365/Word 2016 and this is a completely new document.

Thanks for listening!

Filling in forms protection is designed for use with legacy form fields not content controls. However, if you use plain text content controls you can get the action you want from the tab key.

Unless your form needs to be used by someone using Word 2003 or earlier I would not suggest using legacy form fields.

The protection method designed for use with Content Controls is "No Changes (with exceptions). You set each content control as an exception. This makes the tab key work to move out of the content control, but not necessarily to the next available field.

The screen shot below shows this last method of protection. (The gray brackets [] show automatic bookmarks inserted by Word when an area is marked as an exception.) Note that you can mark non-field areas as exceptions as well as content controls.

Many thanks Charles. I followed the instruction in Word 2016 help and it didn't explain any of this! I'm grateful for your help.

It is confusing.
This is the start of my project on it that sort of died on the vine:
