Linking Documents for Changes
Hi all,
For my work, I've been tasked to create some documentation. There will be a long version and short version of each document. Is there any way to link the documents? By that I mean this - when I update certain areas/images/text/links/etc in one, is there a way for it to update in the other automatically? I've done some research/asked around, and so far have come up empty. I have Office 2007, and can use wither Word or Publisher for these documents. Thanks in advance for any help. |

It can be done in Word by using IncludeText fields.
I would also explore the option to create both versions in the same document and use a macro to show/hide content depending on which version you want to see. I've just done a template along those lines and I used Content Controls to tag areas and then used a macro to loop through the CCs and show/hide that content depending on the tag.

I like your idea of having them in the same document and then just hiding the one you don't want. I'll have to run that by the boss but it might be the best option. Thanks again. |
