How to add "layers" in word 2010
Hi,
I have an special request here and I am trying my luck to see if you can help me. I have a user who uses word 2010 to create simple ads. In it she uses the review tools to input important notes. - She needs one review for the web designer (add this link on this image, forward this link to here etc... - She needs another one for the organizer (please remember to schedule this or that etc...) - And a last one but I forgot! Anyway my point is this: Actually, she is using the same file three times and she makes the changes accordingly for each file. The risk is that she forgets something in one of the file while the two others are OK. What we would like to have is a unique file where we she could use "layers" in it a little like photoshop. That way the original file would never be changed but the review part would be. Do you see what I mean? I hope am I clear enough! Thanks in advance for your help Dag |

There is no such facility in Word.
However, she could use the comment feature for each purpose and save that version with a new but related name. I.e. Project - name given base document Project - design notes - name given copy for designer Project - organizer notes - name given to copy for assistant An alternative method would be to use different character styles for in-text notes. Those styles could be different colors of text and could be formatted as hidden. She could modify the style to not-hidden for the one being sent. If a Word document is being sent, though, she should be aware that hidden text is still in the document and could be viewed by someone who has their computer set to view hidden text. (I generally keep such text displayed all the time on my systems.) Showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Word |
