Default Deleting field code results

I have a document with multiple DOCVARIABLE fields that has been saved with some results in the fields. When the codes are toggled on, you don't notice that anything is there (and the fields can be updated); however, for those people who look at the document with codes toggled off, they see the results put in from another user before the document was protected against updates. I would like to remove these results so that when codes are toggled off there are no spaces or anything there, but I didn't know if there was a way to do it without reentering all fields again. I did a search and didn't see an answer on the forum and also didn't see any shortcuts (like there are for updating/unlinking.

You should be using a template rather than a document and should have your field display set to display field results.

How is information getting into the document variables?

How are fields being protected from updates.

Explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish, and then someone may be able to suggest a way to do it.
