Default How to use multiple footers

I want to use two footers on my multi page document. When I enter the first and then try to use a second footer, the first footer erases.

I am trying to number the document in the footer, and also put a place for initials in the right footer.

Every Section has three footers available:
  • The First-Page footer
  • The Odd-Page Footer
  • The Even-Page Footer
The options for these are in the header/footer tools tab.

These are separate from one another.

You may want to be using a Different First Page setting or a different even and odd setting, or both.

How can I get a different header/footer on the second page?

Also, before you start creating multiple footers, look into the StyleRef Field.

I have a twenty five page document. I want to use page numbering and I also want to have a place for the recipient to in initial. I want this on each page of the document (Actually I want it on each of the first 19-20 pages and then I want to stop it for the remaining pages- but that I will leave for later).

My question is how can add page numbers and a place in the lower right footer for the reader to initial for each page?

You can do this by editing the footer. You can insert a page number with Alt+Shift+P.

I strongly urge you to review the information in the links I gave you before.

You may want to start with: Basic Concepts of Microsoft Word - from Shauna Kelly.

This will save you time.

You can end the page numbering using a next page Seciton break. Once you have one in place, go into the footer and change the setting for link to previous so that the footers are not linked. Then you can change the footers for the pages after the section break.

Word is a deceptively simple looking program with a plethora of "gotcha's." Spending some time learning its ins and outs up front will save you a lot of time, and maybe some hair.

You are welcome. In Ribbon versions of Word inserting a page number at any place other than current location will replace a header or footer already present.
