Keeping pdf & jpeg open during Word edit?
Hello and good morning everyone! I am new to this forum but it looks very interesting.
My first question, is about keeping windows open. While i am editing a Word document, i am usually looking at a pdf document or a jpg for reference while doing so. I would like to look at thes while i'm editing my word document, but...everytime i need to edit word, the pdf or jpeg closes before it will let my stay in word. So..how can i prevent the pdf/jpeg from closing during word edit??? Thank you. |

Adjust the size of the windows of your PDF/Graphics application and Word so that you may display both on screen at the same time. Word does not close other applications when it is opened, but you won't see them if they are behind the Word window.

I have minimized the window of the pdf/jpeg, so it fits within under the area i am editing in word, so i can type and look at the pdf/jpeg at the same time. But when i click in the word document to start typing,,the pdf immediatey removes itself from the window i'm trying to work in. I realize it's still there...the icon is still shown below,,and if i click on it..it comes right back to where i left it...but when i click into my word document,,it hides it again

You need to resize the application windows. First make sure they're not maximised (or minimized).

My ms word document is full screen. My reference documents are minimized, just enough, so i can read them on small windows while i edit my document. When i click on word document, the pdf/jpeg's automatically minimize off the screen, down to the tray at the bottom of the screen. Just like on this website as well,,,i have my pdf/jpeg's minimized so i can still read them,,but once i type into any place on this forum,,those pdf/jpegs' automatically minimize themselves to the tray at the bottom of the screen, where i must click on the icon at the bottom of my screen, for them to place themselves back on my desktop, in their reduced size.

If you resize the windows so that none obscures the others, you can see them all on-screen at the same time.

I've attached a web url for a screen grab. I have my word document in the middle, which is full screen. Reduced sized a pdf and a jpeg, for reference while I am editing my Word document. When i click on the word document the 2 smaller ones minimize automatcally until i click them in the bottom tray and they return to the location, as noted in the screen grab. |

If you have Word full screen then that's what it occupies and the other application will be hidden behind it. You need Word windowed and occupying half the screen, so that you can see the other application.

OK!!! Now i understand! All documents must be minimized including the word document i'm trying to edit,,so that all three pdf/jpgeg and word are reduced/minimized in size.to all fit in one screen and not touching each other.

Apparently not.
Quote:
Application windows have three states: maximized; normal; minimized: • When an application window is maximized and active, that is generally the only application window you'll see on screen. You can maximize multiple windows, but only the active one will generally be visible (some apps don't occupy the full screen even when maximized). • When an application window is minimized, the application window will essentially be closed and you'll only see it on the taskbar. • When an application window is in the normal state, its window can be resized and repositioned, so that it occupies only part of the screen; that part may or may not overlap some or all of the window of another application and, if there is any overlap, the active application window will hide whatever part of the other window(s) it overlaps.
