Default Fonts beween Word 2007 an 2013

Why do certain fonts show up differently between the two above versions (same name on the drop down menu)?

Before I added version 2013 there were several fonts I purchased and/or downloaded on-line. Those fonts (possibly others as well) still show up properly when I use 2007, but look totally different when I use 2013. I can only assume there are some kind of compatibility difference between the two Word versions on certain fonts. I did some surfing and notice there are some "compatibility packs" that may help and can be downloaded. Will that solve the issue? What "pack" should I go with?

Appreciate any help.

Unless the Word 2007 installation isn't fully updated, fonts per se should look the same (I'm not even sure any updates are needed for that). Page layout may change, though, due to differences in printer drivers. It's also possible either the document or one of the Office installations is itself faulty.

Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.

A faulty Office installation can be repaired via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair.

Thanks for the reply Paul.-

In going through the progression you quoted 9before doing the repair) I noticed the following:

- Home and Student 2007.
- Professional Plus 2013 - EN - US.

Do those versions mean anything in reference to my problem?

The Office version is unlikely to have anything to do with this issue.

I did the repair on Word 2013 Paul. Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue. Thanks for the effort.

As I said, the document might be corrupt. It's also possible the fault is with Office 2007, not 2013. If these are two different systems, it's also possible one of them has some damaged font files, in which case the affected fonts would need to be replaced.
