How to convert Word 2013 to JPG?
What's the best way to convert an MS-Word page into a JPG file? I'm using Word 2013.
In other words, I've got a page in Word, contains maybe images or just text, whatever, doesn't matter what is on the page. I can physically print the page and I can "fake print" the page into PDF. But what I want is the easiest and most direct way to "fake print" or otherwise take this MS-Word page and create a JPG image file. Thanks! |

Well, because Word is a 'word processor', it only offers saving your data to word processing type files (as you can see from the drop-down menu offered). However, you can copy the data from Word into a graphic type software (such as PowerPoint) where you can save as a .jpeg or similar 'image' file.

Okay -- HOW do I copy the Word file to PowerPoint?

You don't copy the file...you copy the data from the file (right-click on the mouse and drag across what you want copied). Then open PowerPoint (or similar software) and paste into the opened window. Save to .jpeg or similar file.

Thanks! Worked fine.
Thing is, I occasionally want to capture a section of text as JPG and post it as an image on my website or whatever. This recent case was to take my newly designed business card (which I created in Word) and capture the image to post it to my website or another image. I can of course physically scan a printed page (I've got 2 printers, an HP laserjet and an HP color printer/scanner, so previously I was physically scanning something and then saving it as JPG which worked okay, but the precise resolution was not there. I occasionally want to however take an existing Word page (it is usually a section of text or maybe a small image) and put it into JPG. That way I can post the image on my website. Thanks, I just tried this little transfer and it worked fine, all I want is to do is occasionally capture something in Word and send it to a JPG image. I'm a mystery novelist but occasionally I want to get something which I've written into an image in common format, like JPG, so I can post something onto my website or into another place as a graphics image. So thanks. I'm good to go here. |

To capture an image from a Word file, you may want to try the snipping tool from your Windows 7 software. It allows you to copy a segment (or, a complete page) and save it as an image in .jpeg or similar formats. Might be just what you need based on your narrative. (You can get it fast by doing a search of "snipping tool" from your Windows OS file).

Another trick
Copy what you wish, cut, use Paste Special to paste as Enhanced Metafile. Then cut this, Paste Special again, and your choices will now include JPEG, PNG, etc. You will lose some sharpness.
Hope this helps. Ulodesk |

I might use Snagit for this (screen shots). I would first zoom Word out so that the card essentially filled the screen, then take a screenshot and reduce that picture to the size I wanted on the website.

There are plenty of Word to JPG converters available that you can use like a printer driver, too.

I'll check about JPG printer drivers. I use Bullzip for PDF creation and it works fine.
I don't do a lot of graphics -- I crop photos and create low res versions for thumbnails and such, and have used IrfanView for general graphics manipulation, a nice little utility for low end stuff which is all I need. Screenshot cuts away the resolution and so I was looking for a more direct method. The transition via PowerPoint is fine, and maybe a nice JPG "fake print" driver will be the best. Thanks for all the good help. Those who are interested might check out my website to see what sort of graphics I'm using -- not a lot. I am a novelist and so I mostly just use Word. www.sam-waas.com Thanks again! This forum is excellent! Fast and reliable help, always. I'm out of the computer biz these days and so the details of software are often not something I'm cognizant of lately. |

SnagIt works particularly well and includes a 'printer' output to a variety of file types, including jpg. It also includes a useful graphics editor. It is not free, but it is one of those applications that quickly becomes indispensible.
