Charles, when you convert to a PDF on yours, if you copy the text from the PDF and paste it to Word, Wordpad, etc., does the text have spaces in the middle of words? That's the problem I'm having with mine.

No. It does not have extra spaces when pasted from PDF to Word. I do not know that there is not something different in the Enterprise Version of Office, but I doubt it.

I recall there was litigation at some point between Adobe and MS about them including the pdf conversion but that was resolved. I know that the versions of Office 2010 and 2013 include the same feature, again without any Add-In program.

My version of Word is:
12.0.6690.5000 SP3 MSO 12.6683.5000
if that matters.

I just tried it with 8.5x22 and had no problems copying from pdf text to Word.

Well I solved part of it. I manually typed some of the paragraphs where I was getting problems and when I saved as PDF they came out perfectly. Some of the text I use to create Word documents is pretty rough, usually PDFs with not very good OCR so this is the problem with the text it would seem.

Acrobat completely fixes all the text errors, now I wish I could figure out why it's not printing graphics correctly.

I have used Acrobat pro 8 with everything from Office 2000 to Office 2010 without problems. Indeed, I'm still using it with Office 2010...

I tried to install Acrobat 8 again. Install seemed okay, no errors. I installed the "Full Program." I used the provided serial #, then after installed it prompted me to download an e-license which I did successfully. But I couldn't register, it kept saying "no connection" but I had a connection and firewall was disabled.

It's not integrating with Word though. There's no Acrobat link in the Word interface, and when I try to open a Word document with Acrobat it says "Missing PDF Creator files."

My version of Word is 100% legit, bought it myself, so that shouldn't be an issue.

You can simply choose the 'Never Register' option. Since Adobe's no longer producing updates for it, registration is of no consequence. That said, you can download the updates to bring it up to 8.3.1 from:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...atform=Windows

Did you uninstall your other Adobe Acrobat Pro version first?

Also, have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change)?

Hey macropod.

No, no other versions of Acrobat. When I installed 8 I started with a clean slate by restoring a backup image I made before installing any versions of Acrobat. But for whatever it's worth, when I did install Acrobat 11 Pro yesterday it integrated with Word. That's why I think it's an issue with 8.

I don't think I want to run repair on Word. I have it exactly like I want it and repair I believe would demolish everything. I'll have to think long and hard before I do that. If I can't get 8 to work I'll probably just install 11 and set about figuring out how to use it.

I did run repair a couple of times on 8 this morning but it didn't fix the missing PDF Creator files.

No, it doesn't. A repair has absolutely no effect on settings, documents, etc.

Still I don't want to risk it if I can just install Acrobat 11. I originally thought there was something wrong or incompatible with 11, that's why I wanted to try another version. But now I don't think that's the case; it's probably the way I've formatted my Word documents or some settings in Acrobat I need to change. I experimented a little yesterday with shorter page lengths in Word and Acrobat didn't seem to have any trouble saving all the graphics. Granted it's not a whole document but it's a good sign. If worse comes to worse I can always just insert the missing graphics into a PDF with Acrobat. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but...

The fact you're having trouble with two different versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro, one of which I use extensively with the same Word version as you, suggests your Office installation needs repairing. If you're unwilling to do that (and it's a common-place fix for many niggling Office problems), that's up to you - but don't expect things to fix themselves.

I have used Acrobat pro 8 with Office 2003, 2007, 2010, and 2013. I'm currently using Acrobat 9 on one computer and 10 on another. Again, there is built-in conversion to pdf in Word 2007.

Yes, but that tends to drop characters out of the text. See below. The top image is produced by Save As; the bottom by 'printing' to PDF.

Just a thought – what fonts are you using? in other applications, I've occasionally run into fonts that display correctly on screen but are not licensed for use in a .pdf. If Acrobat then substitutes a near-match, strange things may happen.

The missing characters are in Times New Roman - a fairly common font, I'd think...
