Angry Features Templates Not Displayed When Launching Word 2013

Office 2013 Professional Plus is installed on a notebook running Windows 8.1 Professional. When Word 2013 is launched, the featured templates (event flyers, certificates, checklists, etc.) no longer display. Only Blank Document is shown, along with a note that "We don't have any featured templates right now." All other Office 2013 apps load featured templates correctly at startup. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2013 Professional Plus. No change.
